How far up is Yotsutsuji?
About 30–40 minutes' walk from the main hall.
The crossroads where most visitors turn back, and one of the best views anywhere on the route. The path beyond it to the summit is usually much quieter.

The full loop over the summit is about 4 km and takes about 2 hours 15 minutes from the main hall. Yotsutsuji already has one of the best views on the route, so if you are short on time or energy, this is a good place to turn back.
If you have a little more in you, Kojinmine, about 10 minutes further on, is a quieter viewpoint that looks out over the north of Kyoto, a view you don't get from Yotsutsuji.
